Success is not really about talent but determination, which without skills leads to frustration. So what does it take to succeed? I welcome your views; while you think about it hear are mine...
Set a goal - ok not like taking a sheet of paper and writing down some ten things you must do, but better still write it down, it helps.
Know what you want to achieve, why you want to achieve it and when you want to achieve it.
First up - What? - Be clear about your goals, I want to own a car does not cut it; I want to own a blue Citi Golf by next year April sets the ball rolling. You now start looking at various models and going to VW dealerships. Same thing with any other goal you have... Want to get a job? What kind of of job and the next step why?
Next up - Why? What is your motivator, what is it that makes you want to achieve that goal above? You may want a Citi Golf for transport to work or to simply enjoy the ride. My question is, 'Is the motivator strong enough to make you get through with it?' Get your priorities straight; find that compelling reason to act. That inner drive to act - be it desire or desperation, harness its power and ACT.
So When? - It is one thing to set a goal, but when do you sit back and say, "I have achieved it, I must improve it or simply I must let go?" You must have a goal with a specific time frame. My advice usually to a guy who wants to improve his life is, give it five yrs, enroll at Unisa...Usually I am met by 'Five Yearsee?" yes within the study plan we have budget those times you will quit for a semester or simply fail a module. The five yrs must then be broken into semesters, and there you go. My point is set a time frame, have a time plan (days that turn into weeks, weeks that turn into months and months that turn into..." you got it!
And finally, you are going to ride the success horse, you will surely fall from time to time, whatever you do, stand and ride back on it...

What ever he tells you to do, do it
There comes a time when you are discouraged, broke or flat out sick. What are you going to do about it? It is common practice that we roundup our friends and relatives and say "Joe I really sick" and we wait in anticipation for their response; and they respond in kindness and say "Shame man Reu all things will be fine!"...Sure thing, they mean well; but come to think of it, does it really change the situation?
I really don't want to have a God who fills sorry for me ...nope I can do that myself, better still, I can ask you to do it. If I am ever going to have a God, I want a God who will speak right into my situation and provide change. A God who works out everything together for my good, literally... But how is he ever going to do it? Will God simply look down and say, "Shoo man, my boy is in trouble, let me help him.."? No, that is not the deal. Someone has to say something, and guess who?
Now Heb 3:1 says Jesus is the high priest of our confessions. He takes what you say and makes it real. That is why (Heb 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Ok think of it this way, when you drink panado are you instantly healed? Nope, But can you put the panado on your table and hope to be healed, nope you drink it, can you stay at hope and mark off the calender and hope to be paid month end, nope you stand up and go to work... Now what makes you think you get sick, broke, troubled etc. and God will automatically come through for you?
If indeed he is the high priest of your confession, don't you think you need to say something for the transaction to be done? Don't just stand there say something like ... "By His stripes I am healed", do you feel look and feel healed? maybe not, but are you healed, yep; You say "He supplies all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus"; Are you having that money now? Nope , but is he able to provide yep!
The Bible says David encouraged himself in the Lord his God (1Sam 30:6) Well if you know something about David, he would praise, sing and dance, he would say something. Just like David encourage yourself. Stand and confess your desire and let the high priest of your confession do his part. Remember what Marry said to the people at the wedding (John 2:5) "Whatever he tell you to do, do it"

Who are these conquerors
My sister in law woke me up to a fact that "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors..(Rom 8:37" Then I got thinking, but who are these guys?
I mean these guys should have been great, these are the ultimate survivors, these have done battle and won, these guys have overcome sin, sickness, desease, lack and anything you might want to add to the list; but who are they? These should be the guys we present as witnesses in our case for victory;
Speaking of witnesses, look at Heb 12:1-2, It says we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses; but who are these guys?...Heb 11 gives us a short list, Abraham, he received an inheritance by believing God, By faith Sarah's womb was restored, Isaac blessed (the ability to prosper in all things) his sons, how about Moses, such great leadership, and should I add Jesuss to the list? Well he conquered the grave.
Now there are a few thing that can take you to an early grave, sickness and desease, Jesus went about doing good, healing all manner of sickness and desease, and how about your worries and cares, is it not written "Cast your burdens unto him for he cares (we will take car of it) for you?"
How about it, he died and he rose again, and you can do more things than these?
John 14:14 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My father" There goes one more witness; you. You have the ability to do greater things and the heavens are looking down on you and me for greater things than these; you conqueror thing you! Go for it!
